I find that if i go below 5 gallons a filter makes to much current for the betta. I tried those bubble filters but they are useless also cant fit a heater in anything smaller so a 5 gallon min for me but i usually go 10 gallons as they are like 20 quid,
has anyone else noticed bowls are more expensive than tanks? At my LFS a 10 gallon tank 2x1x1 is 20 quid ish and a 1-2 gallon bowl is 27 quid, crazy

Well, just been talking bout this on the other thread. It is true that bettas can and have been kept in bowls, meaning a sphere of about a gallon. In a climate like the UK they need to be heated, which in a bowl they cant. That size bowl needs at least a 100% water change daily, or the betta will be swimming in its own ammonia. In this day and age there are no reasons what so ever to keep a betta in anything less than 2 1/2 Imp gallons.
A betta will survive in a bowl, but wil thrive in a larger tank |

if you had 20 boas would you keep them in smaller tanks where they cant move much and sit in their own s**t. If you couldnt provide tank to them all then dont get so many, is what i say
