Default Tropical Fish, Fin Rot

Hi, I have had my tank for a month or so now with no problems, however I have lost a couple of fish due to fin rot. Is there anything I can do to help prevent this??? Many Thanks Everyone

fin rot can start from a wound in the fins getting infected...
do you have any fish in there that could be nipping fins?

this is only one of the ways it happens... so it might not be, it's just an idea...

I have Flamingo Guppies, Dragon Tail Guppies and Wagtails, not sure if they are fin nippers though, still new to this, thanks

you should be testing for:

ammonia,
nitrates,
nitrite,

instead of buying individual kits, I recommend the Nutrafin masterkit, it comes with everything you need to test

just so you know, the names dragon tail and flamingo aren't needed when you talk about you're fish. Its just a way for fish shop to increase sales by giving them fancy names, they are guppies. It's just the colour name, and most shops have completely different names for theirs anyway

but yeah, all fish carry the diseases but its the conditions which bring them out. Usually fin rot is caused by poor water quality, so test for ammonia, nitrate and nitrite
