if its a heavily stocked tank then in warmer weather its not a bad idea.
In a planted tank no, oxygen is produced by the plants as a 'waste' product, imagine it as if you were put in a air tight room, and someone put extra carbon dioxide in, you ain't gonna like it. but like davem said, filter outlets just below the surface will cause enough surface disruption

althoug, one thing I have found that helps for plants, is increase the rate of aeration when lights go out, because in extremly low light level, photosynthesis actually reverses, so they take in oxygen instead of CO2,

I've got a planted setup, substrate fertilisation, undergravel heating, CO2 system with solanoid valve, pH propes, carbonate hardness electronic test kits. The full works basically but yeah a small bit of aeration at night is ok, and even beneficial in most tanks
