Default how long ahve you been fishkeeping and what sparked your interest

as the title suggest, how long have you been fishkeeping and what sparked your interest

I've been fidhkeeping for 11 years, and what sparked my interest was going to a garden centre, and seeing the variety of fish, and all the colours, and my parents made me wait a year before my first tank, lol, and in that time I read up all I could about fish care, and on my birthday I had a lovely glass tank with some fan tail goldfish, lol

so, how long have you been fishkeeping and what sparked your interest

technically keeping fish for nearly 15 years. But that was a goldfish bowl.

Properly (proper tank, filter etc)nearly 13 years.

Seriously (all my cichlids etc) 9 years.

Started with the goldfish, but that was a present from my sister as an early 3rd birthday present. But the tropicals were an excuse for my dad to get a tank by saying it was for me. Then i got bored with normal stuff and started getting all the bigger more specialised cichlids. Now i use a friends fish room and have a lot lol

Got my first goldfish about 30yrs ago from a fairground now we have a tropical fish pond in our conservatory(dont know if thats how you spell it) got fed up with tanks.
I still dont really know the first thing about keeping fish I think i've been really lucky in that I never try too hard with them and they have always been fine

i was given a little tank when i was about 12... but didn't know what i was doing... and neither did the shop staff, now i look back on it!

they sold me a betta, 1 neon, 1 black widow tetra, and a convict cichlid!
in a new tank... that was only about a foot long!

but i learnt more... and got a bigget tank... and this time round, have been keeping them for about 5 years...
and have moved on to oscars and catfish
working on a bigger tank... and more catfish now

snakelover, you can keep any tropical fish in a tropical pond. Obviously certain conditions have to be considered for each species

Been keeping them for 20 years.
Only got 3 tanks of tropical fish now though as i used to have 7 LOL.
Too many reps to allow room for more fish.
Do have a 1000 gallon pond full of koi in the garden though
