the stuff from the pet shop worked fine for me in the past if treated early enough, first time my fish got it i had to wait a week or two before i could actually get to the pet shop to buy the treatment and it didnt go too well for a lot of my fish that time but after that i had it to hand so the next time i started treating imediatley and it cleared up nicley (still took bloody ages though) I havent kept fish in years though, this was back when i was 15... lol..

You could try raising the temp to 29/30 as well as the meds, this makes it harder for the white spot to live. I find that 'esha' (i think thats what its called) treatments are very good and not that expensive compared to the other brands. Its worked for me.
Also, if you have a spare tank, you could try a salt solution bath as the free floating stage of white spot doesn't like salt.

fresh water dips for marines, methene blue is good, garlic additives to food are also a good natural immune medications, para-zyme, is also all herble and is very good for all types of fish and good for inverts, does not harm them and has not natural copper ingreadiants.

i beleive in salting tanks. but ich is the easiest thing to cure. you just have to treat them throughout the parasite's life cycle. lots of effective meds out there. copper based meds work well. just read the labels cause some fish are sensitive to some meds.
