Exclamation Help needed ASAP!

Ok, i came home from school today to find lots of little brown things in my 7.5gal with my guppie in. They seem to be on the glass and rocks and one seems to have attached itself to my guppie. He is swimming around darting quickly as if to try and get it off. I've no idea what to do! How do i help him?

All i know is that they werent there this morning, then they were all there this afternoon. I have to admit that i havent done a water change recently due to having important exams at school but I will do one asap.

Was wondering is it worth moving him to the Quarantine tank, so that i can do a thorough cleaning in the 7.5gal?

There is no filter in the Q tank, but i have a spare one and i could put filter media from my 15gal in there so it can be cycled. Is it worth doing this?

thanks

plz help asap.

I don't have a clue, they could be what's called a fluke, or possibly a leech, but have necer seen anything like this before

i had this years ago, never found out what it was or seen it since. I took the fish out and into a quarantine tank where i dosed them with antibacterial and antifungal treatments. that didn't do anything so i took the parasites off the fish myself, with a pair of tweezers and a great deal of care. Next thing i did was scrub the old tank, then cleaned it with methylated spirits (this evaporates really quickly so leave it an hour or two and it will be completely gone, then refilled and started the tank from scratch adding the old fish gradually. didn't lose a single fish.

hope this helps in someway and sorry i can't tell you what the exact problem is, i think it's a parasite

Thanks. I will move him tomorrow. I've done a 50% water change in the tank and scrubbed the walls so hopefully should be ok for tonight.

sounds to me like some kind of bacterial build up.

Normally caused by over feeding/under cleaning.

Do they look like floaty thin brown strings??

If so then it's some kind of build up of nasties rather than parasites etc.

hmmm ok. I think i might be over feeding him a bit. its only him in the tank. How much should i be feeding him?

Like i said, i havent been doing many water changes recently, so will do them a lot more often now.
