Talking Just got three new guppies

I just finished acclimatising 3 new guppies into my 7.5gal tank.

They are all male.

In the bag they were in when they were being transported from the lfs to my house the biggest of the 3 was nipping the other 2. I was getting slightly worried, but now that they are in the tank they seem to leave each other alone.

1 question. In the lfs 2 of them were in the same tank, and the other in the one next to them. The 2 that were in the tank together look as if they are either on the starting points of finrot or are in the proces of recovering from it. I always use melafix for the first 3 days when i get new fish but should i keep using it after the 3 days to make sure they are all ok?

thanks

Gwenz

Just use it as you would normally. Guppies these days are very weak after all that line breeding in their genes, but your routine should stop the finrot if any started out. I hope they don't catch it for you guppies are beautiful and I have a whole tank of them.

i would just keep treating them as if u was treating the tank for a disease.
guppys are not as hardy as they once were due to breeding for more intense coloration.

thanks. I'm using the tretment for the 7 days it says i should. Unfortunately, one of them died a few minutes ago. I'll have to phone them in the morning to see when the guarantee ended and see if i can have another one.
