Question Buying Koi Carp

My step dad has kept Koi Carp for approximately 20 years, He bought his last one about 10 years ago.

Unfortunately now the majority of his have began dying from old age and he would like to buy some more to replace the decreasing population.

Since it has been a long time since he has had to buy any, he doesn't know where is good to buy them from, so could anyone recommend a good place (preferably a breeder rather than shop) in the South West?

Would anyone recommend buying them from an internet site? or would they not survive well with the transportation?

Sorry for the silly questions but I'm a snake keeper rather than fish

thanks in advance for any advice

xx

its a bit late in the year to add fish to a pond , best wait till the spring now when the water temp starts to rise .....just keep an eye open on various sites for private keeper...i personally wouldnt buy online as you cant see how healthy the fish are .....so i would either stick to a private keeper or a good shop

Why would he want to buy new fish? Are his fish still spawing in the summer? If so all he would need to do is collect the eggs and bring them on. Keeping back what he wants and selling or giving away the surplus. I think that this would be the route I would adopt given the problems with KHV now days.
