Whats the best tank to set-up,like tropical or marine ect.
I havnt read into any of these but after visting the shops they are slowly winning me over. If people can post thier experince about thier tanks ect it would be helpful, also i havnt read upon any info of these tanks,my sister have started her own tropical tank and im starting to like it and if i ever had one id get a 3ft tank or bigger depending on how much space i can make ect. And if anyone have any sites they use to read info on please post. ![]()

Don't know about websites, but 'Aquarium designs designed by nature' looked very impressive as i flicked through it in the shop.
I love south american fish so i'd have to go with a large amazon set up for smaller community tank. Harry

A Tropical Fresh Water set up is a lot less agro then a Marine set up and if you have no experience then this is the safer option, not that I am saying it's beyond you. I'd also recommend doing your research as it saves on the heartache.
Regards the tank and equipment look through the Classified Ad's and save yourself some money, (just veiw them before you buy and always ask to see a tank in the filled condition as opposed to empty, nothing worse then a tank that leaks). |

I think really the thing to do is decide what fish you want and provide them with the appropriate setup.
I would visit as many fish shops as you can as often as you can for as long as you can. Take a pen and paper, write down the names of everything you like, go home and google them. Once you decide on your favourate fish, decide on wether you want a community or a species tank and look at what setup they require and what else (if anything) will be compatible. Personally I always wanted a Tanganyika tank but the fish that I would want to keep need more than I can provide so until I'm I own my own home and can commit to a couple of 7 or 8 foot tanks then I'm afraid its a no no. I think the most interesting tank I did was a river setup, fast flowing, plants, lots of loaches. Fascinating to watch. Link Link Link Link Link Good Tank Shop Link

Biotope tanks are superb,e.g river tanks as above. Amazonian is alway popular, tetras, plecs, corydoras and some dwarf cichlids plus lot of planting and bogwood.
