When it comes to fish, growth depends on food intake. The more you feed them, the quicker they'll grow!

Nose to vent size of 4 inches or so is roughly fully grown from my experience in the aquatic trade but it always depends on the particular species.

No idea about the oranda hood bit though!

well i give them what they eat in a couple of minutes once a day, so the right amount i guess, i think all my goldfish grow to about 15cm. i was just curious as ive only been keeping them about a year and my first one has bearly grown and my oranda whom ive had about 6 months is showing no signs of a hood yet and i bought another oranda today which is slightly bigger than my original oranda and he's showing signs of a hood and i was just wondering about the ages of mildstones in there lives, i'm kinda hoping that i have a boy and girl orandas so they can have baby orandas.

I was going to say that I am not sure but I think it ay have to do with sex, google will tell you presumably but at a guess I'd say one sex has the hood and one doesn't.

I know with most of our tropical fish the way to sex them is either fin shape, size or structure etc so It'll probably be similar.

Please check this on google as all i'm basing it on is how we were shown how to sex most of our tropicals. Sami has this thing about knowing what sex an animal is and keeing them in at least 1.2 or 1.2 groups, larger when she can.

we have 1.2 or 1.3 groups of all our gouramis etc. bless her.

Generally goldfish prefer to have a few more partners around them to initiate breeding. You'd be lucky to make babies from a pair. Possible, but lucky!

You can only really tell if goldfish are male or female in the spring as the males develop breeding spots (like white spot) on there head and gills and females are fatter..wuite hard to tell in fancies also they eat their babies.

not sure how old depends on tank size and food quality really.

They are very small at the mo, well the oradas are anyway which I have a pair of, I'm not really looking to breed but if they want to then I'd love it. but the rate they are growing I'm guessing it's gunna take a few years for them to grow to adults but I was just wondering if anyone knew age mildstones.

I would say orandas develop the hood at around 7-8 months
