My mollie is heavily pregnant bless her. But last night I noticed her bum hole was open even after after she had pooed loads This morning its still open and I swear I can see a tiny amount of tail in there...is she about to drop?

Quite possibly. Keep an eye on her and see what happens, as long as she's not in distress, I presume its that...

So are you catching the babies, or are they a free source of live food for the fish?

I was just about to say is she in a nursery. You dont want to put them in too near to giving birth though, as the stress can make them give birth prematurely (not that it matters now she is in, but for future).

I dont know if you had babies before, but what I used to feed them was mushed up flake food, right from day 1. I got a plate, and put a few bits of flake on, and than rubbed the back of a spoon over them to make them into a fine powder. Seemed to work really well. Of course, you can use brine shrimp napuli if you can be bothered, but they are livebearers, so flake should be fine.

Another thing I found was good, once they were a few days/week old or so was defrosted frozen daphnia: its quite small, and you can get it frozen, so just defrost and feed. Of course, though, it doesn't have much nutritional quality, being 95% water or whatever the value is.

Good luck!

You gonna put some pics up? Always nice seeing some baba's!

With the nursery, if it's a breeding net, sometimes the holes are to small to allow sufficient water movement etc. as the movement of the water surface allows oxygenation, make sure there is some movement, if the net does not allow this, break the water surface yourself a few times a day so the babies still get some oxygen. Hope that makes sense and post some photos when they are born!
