Default Small snails in tank

Mums found lots of small snails on the side of her tank. Any idea what they are and if they are harmfull to the fish?

If they are malaysian Trumpet Snails (trumpet shape) they are harmless to your plants, I have had some in my tank for about 10 years, you just need to "reduce" the numbers every so often. all the other snails will devour your plants.
I have seen a new snail trap in the LFS this week actually, its by JBL and cost about a tenner and looked very effective, they had one in a display tank.

Thanks, they appeared at the same time as the foam on the top, doing a water change asap.

probably just common pest snails, no harm at all to your fish, but they multiply like crazy and eat any live plants.

Throw some sliced cumcumber in over night, and then in the morning they iwll have snails all over them. just take them out.

Default snails

If the water was a bit dodgy and in need of a water change you will often see the snails rise to the top of the glass, give the tank a good water change squash as many snails as you can the fish will eat them, if its a tropical tank gets some clown loaches as these eat snails ( tank has to be suitable for them) if there is a large amount of snails they can help towards dirty water. wot type of set up is it wot size?

those JBL traps are pretty good, had one for about 8months, use ham as the bait and you'll catch loads every night
