RFUK's New Dedicated Server [coming soon]
Just a heads up...
I have decided to move RFUK to a new server, RFUK is currently hosted with dedicated resources via a top notch VPS.. I thought when I moved to the current company that it would be the last move I would ever need to make. However, with the site now turning over nearly 5 million page views a month... and the visitors and page views increasing month on month without fail, I know that its not long before we hit problems. We live on the edge during peak times when there are nearly 600 users on at the same time. Its extremely important to me that RFUK loads lightning fast, or a close as where ever possible... and therefore I have decided to make the upgrade and server move. This obviously will mean some downtime, however, because I will be running both servers during testing periods the only significant downtime will be when I change the DNS settings for the RFUK domain and move it to the new IP address. Everything else will be set up and tested to ensure there are no hic-ups when I make the final move. This final move is likely to happen later in May, as long as there are no problems. The main resource needed is Processor and Memory, there will be no lack of it with the new dedicated server... and extra memory can always be installed further down the line. The new server specs are below (for geeks)

Not that I know anything about computers, but would it help for the dormant users to be deleted - there's loads of people registered, but only about 4000 active users. Maybe delete the users who haven't been active in 6 months. Just a thort - don't know how practical this would be - but at least it would free up some space - every little helps! Ben
