I have the same problem unless I sign in and check the remember me button, its not your pc its the forum.
Mine has just had an distant clean up as part of my Norton Anti Virus deal and I asked him to check that very problem out for me and another with msn showing me as offline even when I'm not - turns out those particular problems had nothing to do with my system. You will cure it simply by checking the remember me box |

I'm new to RFUK but most forums log you out if they think you have been inactive for so long (i.e. on one screen - it doesn't know whether you are typing).
You can type long posts in word or notepad then log in to the forum and copy the text into a PM or post so that it's quicker and you don't loose it. Also, if I think I have been typing a post for a while I will select all my text when I finish writing (before I try to post) and copy it (Ctrl+C) - then if it logs me out when I post, I can log back in, go back to where I was and paste the text (Ctrl+V). However, using that method you only have the text on the clipboard of the computer so if you copy anything else or anything happens to the computer between you copying and pasting, you'll loose it. |

Thing is, installing anti-virus onto an already infected computer is practically useless and a waste of time.
Any virus worth anything installs counters that are designed to kill anti-virus programs installed after virus has taken effect. (it too boring to explain how). There are two options. Go to www.microsoft.com and get it to scan your computer, in fairness it takes bloody ages, but it will tell you if there is any hope of salavaging it other than a complete reinstall. In some cases it will install and delopy stingers to kill the worst of the spyware. Failing that, I'd do a complete re-install and then wack on some anti-virus, straight away, free or after market doesn't really matter. |
