lol, okay; it worked for me all it is [i think] is a little dns problem. Basically the coding that makes the website work (i.e the computer reading all the xhtml and saying right this is this this is that) remembers sites you've been on before for improved loading times so until you flush your dns [or if you switch off your machine that sometimes works too] it will continually try and pick up the old one and as theres been a server change it will be picking up the old server hence the problem

Hmm, let me think. Is he using the full modem or is he on a wireless/wired network?
If he's picking up a connection from say a router then the flush dns wouldn't work. I'll have some more thinking and reading up my college books see what i can come up with.

TBH your stuck full stop till your isp updates the migrated dns markers, you cant point to something they havnt updated yet.
Had that when i was running my own site and got locked out for a full 48 hours due to a lazy isp. ![]() He can however gain access by useing the sites full ip addy, now that should work. ![]() |

Just for a laugh could try: 78.129.158.229 - as its the weekend and i'm still half asleep i'll assume thats the full IP addy. It is afterall what you get when you ping the address and also it works for me

I didn't have to do anything to get onto the new server?

It all depends on ISP and whether you computer has been switched off (i think) during the move. From what i understand (and i've only done two years of networking so far so sorry if this isn't 100% accurate) there are quite a few different things that can mean when you type reptileforums it could link you to the old one.
For me it was that my machine was left on over night and the website left open therefore as i refreshed it it was just refreshing the page and not finding the new website. Deleting cache, cookies etc didn't work either but when i flushed the DNS which would reset everything pretty much it worked. For some people this wouldn't work and a direct IP link (like the one i provided above) will work and for some not even that will work and it will only work when the ISP refreshes their side.
