Seeing as we've had quite a few scams with the classifieds I was wondering if any methods of deterrence were being thought of?

On another forum I use only contributing members can post for sale ads. That might work here...scammers are unlikely to want to empty their own pockets to scam others, even if the contribution fee was only a few £ a year.

Another option would be to set membership requirements to be able to post in the classifieds...for example at the moment you need to be here over a month and have over 100 posts to access the 18+ section yet I've seen freshly registered members making their first posts in the classifieds! Surely if you're trying to deter people from joining this site just for breasts then you should also be detering people from joining this site just to make money/scams?

i find it annoying people joining the forum just to sell a snake, or buy one. and never coem on again, dont think i should fiond it annoying, but i do...

theres one on there at mo selling gecko`s....she`s a total idiot and sells rehomes a lot of the time...

she only joined to post on classifieds.

i say minimum of 1000 posts to post in there.

I think 1000 is a bit harsh because there are some perfectly responsible and experienced members here who just choose not to venture into off topic and so maintain a low post count.

If you were to up either of the limitations the time one would probably be best (i.e. up it to 2 months or more).

no, i think around 500 posts from any of the help and chat forums. 500 in total from all frums posts, in help and chat.

Teebs i currenty considering the problem, there is a piece of software/coding (I dont know about these things..) that can be added to the site which would allow a sort of reputation system for classifieds users which may help.

The last thing we need is anymore scammers, they seem to have become more and more of a problem recently.
