I just think the gold stars give people a higher status when they dont deserve it. As if it makes them seem knowledgeable when they arent.

And i can think of a handfull of names that stick out to me as very knowledgable members with very few posts. Its going to work both ways.

Yeah, but I think people should earn the right to have gold stars. Not just be able to buy them. They stand out when you get replies in threads and it always makes me look who has them. I dont think anyone and everyone should be able to do it. They should earn it which should go up by post count as it used to, or maybe the mods pick a handful of people a month that deserve them.
All I know is that if I was a newbie and saw 5 gold stars I would think that they obviously know what they are talking about to have the stars.

Its like buying a status.

At the end of the day, t-bo needs to finance my 40k a year salary, and google adverts are not going to pay for it on their own, so thats the way it is!

They are just stars at the end of the day... you can get them by making a lot of posts..... or by upgrading your account and making a donation towards the resources you are using.... basically either of these things make you special and you should therefore have gold stars!!
