newts like to hide in pond weed and small crevaces. are you going to include either of those? also you should put in a bit more water. about 3 inches. they get alot more active when the water is deeper!

cool setup too....

yep, they do need a bit of dry land to hind and stuff....
maybe a bit of eco-earth and some logs (small ones)??
