I only have 2 FBT, like you one is male and often calls.
The other never makes a noise except when the male mounts it then it has a very different call like you said. I assume the quieter one is female??? You are supposed to be able to sex them like this:- The males call & also tend to have larger forelimbs and nuptial pads are visible on the thumbs however these pads are difficult to spot. I can't spot the difference between mine, but mine are still quite small only about an 1" (2.5cm) long. Sorry that I can't help more....

thank you for your reply , there tricky little things , i have been doing further reading and i think when the other toads replys with a different call back , its a female not ready to mate or the setup is not suitable,there seem to prefer deeper water when breeding 5-6 inches ,
still learning loads all the time, almose certain i have 1 male 2 female as 1 only calls and is the 1 trying to mate. Cheers Aaron
