what is a nice frog / toad for a beginner?

Whites tree frogs are good starters, as are fire bellied toads, horned frogs are simple to keep but aren't very active just sit there and eat but still popular

Fire bellied toads are cool.. but i'm bias.

I believe mossy frogs are good for starters and are something a bit different but more expensive,barking tree frogs,green tree frogs and white lipped tree frogs are also an option.
