Default Leucs

Okay Well I have had my leucs now for about 3 months and I believe they are about 11 months old now from tads. They are feeding very well and are very healthy. I have three at the moment and they all seem to get on very well. I have heard calling for the last two months constantly every morning and evening and during the day when I am there.

Now I know this means I have a male, however i have seen this one singing and he sits at the top of the tank all the time when singing. This frog though is the biggest out of the three and I thought females were larger than males??
My question is if I have two males or even three would only the most dominant male call??
Also do different leucs sound different as I sometimes think that the calls differ a bit but I have never heard two call at once??
HELP!!!
Anyhelp will be appreciated
Thanks alot
Luke

As far as i know the males will fight rather than be intimidated by the other but i don't think they would at that age.

May be completely wrong though

the females do call!!!! they just wont call if they are kept without males.
now its well known that a male calls but females will answer.
yes the females are usually the larger if you want to try and sex them then you need to try and look for a pad on the first toe of their front legs this will tell you if you have males as only males have the pad.
im not sure in leucs at what age they develop this little pad but its sole purpose is for hanging on when mating.

Hi Mate i believe if you had more males there would be competitive calling so you would see or hear more than 1 calling as for the size females are not always larger and you can sex by toe pads you need to look out for a female following a calling male and the female stroking the male on his back hope that helps also females dont call

Female leucs do not call! , the only female dartfrog known to call is P.terribilis and that is quite rare also.

Males mature quicker than females so you will need to be patient before you see any action. If your male has only just started calling then it will take him a few weeks to practice and perfect his call, you will notice it getting more clearer and louder as the weeks pass.

Dominate males will supress the calls of other males, thats not to say they wont call at all but usually call far less frequently than the top dog, males are not usually too agressive, its the females you have to watch out for, they will fight with anyone, somtimes even the males. Make sure you have plenty of cover and plants which weaker frogs can escape to if fighting occurs.

Thanks for all the replys. I know my frogs are still young so wasn't expecting any action between males and females yet. Does anyone have any decent pics of male and female leucs and maybe their toe pads so I can see???
Thanks again

Well I have three boys!! Two call very loudly and boldly and are bigger than the third who calls but still sounds like he his finding his voice!!!

If I was to swap a male for a female at some point would 2 males and female be ok? or would the males fight over her?

As it stands at the moment I never see any fighting!! Get on as good as gold.
