yes, as long as it washed and isnt to small for them to swallow, using in the water part of tank? if its for the land i would use eco-earth and moss.

lol i know what you mean, makes the water `muddy` i now have about 7-8 of water in the tank with bogwod and rocks sticking out of the water to make landings, and swamped the tank with aquatic plants, the plants also help crickets cling to something instead of drowning lol.

Personally i'd use gravel far too big for the toads to swallow, having watched one of my fbt's kick a piece of gravel while moving to catch a cricket, then eating the gravel instead of the cricket, plus currently having a tiny toad who's not eating because of a blockage of sand of all things, I wouldn't risk it again (Coincidentally the fbt must've passed the pebble, which I was sure was too big for it to do so as when it died a year or so later I had a 'bit of a feel' and there was definitely no stone inside her...sounds evil but I just had to know !)

Do not use gravel with any frogs.

You can use larger river stones that they cant swallow, I'm talking about stones larger than .......about 3 inches around.
