Default Wanna find a wild frog or toad tonight need hunting tips

Since my toad died i've been having amphibian cravings and desperately want to get another. I don't want to buy a tropical one as i'm waiting until I move to make nice setups and get some. Plus I wanna use the things i have left from my last toad up and not buy anything else.

So, common frog or toad I'm looking for. Are they out of hibernation yet? it's 11 degrees outside right now i think.

If not tonight, how long should I wait until I'll be able to find one?

Any field herping tips are greatly appreciated

As you only managed to keep the last one alive for 3 months, I would question what happened with that before going to get a 'new' one.

Excuse me? The last one wasn't even fully grown it was only a few months old and I found it inside during the winter. I know what was wrong with it and I did everything I could to save it so get your f**king facts right !

So you found a young wild frog and decided to keep it, and within a few months it was dead? Not accusing, just curious how it died.

I found a small toadlet in november, without any amphibian experience I took it home and did alot of research on how to keep them and what stuff I needed etc. 1 thing I overlooked earlier on when I got it was calcium, I would dust crickets but that obviously wasn't enough it developed MBD so it couldnt eat anymore, after not eating for 3 weeks and on the day I got critical care formula and special syringes to inject it into its mouth was the day I got home from work to find it half dead so it was too late. I tried everything to get it better, UVB lamps, liquid calcium, even took it to the vet. So I have everything i need to keep one alive and well nourished from the beginning. So yes I have learnt a valuable lesson!

So basically you knew what was wrong with it because you caused it .

Lucky you have the countryside to use as a free petshop huh or you could be out of pocket if the same happens again

OK, my advice. Leave wild frogs and toads in the wild!

apparently if you shine a torch on them in the dark they stay still (i think so anyway) so it shouldn't be too hard. Depends on where you look.
