Default Phyllomedusa Sauvagii Setup question

Hi there,

Wondering if anyone could tell me how they keep the heat up for their waxy monkey. At the minute I am trying to make do with heat mats and an external heater, is there an easier way as heaters and UV don't seem to cut it?

Thanks

To keep this species succesfuly you need to provide a temprature gradient by placing a heat mat on the side, and you also need to provide a basking spot by means of a heat spot bulb. the most common cause of death in waxy monkey frogs is by people keeping the to humid and not providing enough heat.

Waxy monkeys like to bask in the sun and in the wild are found on branches takin in the sun.

Hi,

By day, a reflector spotlight connected to a dimming stat plus 10.0 UVB is what i use for these, the hotspot reaches just over 100f and the ambient is in the middle 80's - all this goes off at night obviously. At night i use a heatpad connected to a matstat which is placed externally on the back wall of the glass, which is set at around 70f. Daytime humidity is low, around 40% whilst in the evening this rises into the 70's and 80's.

Hope this helps
Alex.

P.s, i've not sprayed this species for months although i initially used to do it every 7-10 days i think from recollection.

So when you say the temperatures were dropping too much, what was it getting down to?. As i'm sure you know, it should drop down to around the 69f to 73f mark at night for this species unless you're currently putting them through their day/night cool period where you fast them prior to resuming normal temperatures...and then it's off to the rain chamber

I suppose we'll all have our favourites - i use a few different brands and they all seem to do the job in conjunction with a mat stat.

P.s Ruby, are you still looking for another Waxy?
