there are a few species with the term crocodile newt in there common name. do you have a picture or a scientific name

they dont really require any lighting but if kept in a darkish place a low wattage bulb/led bulb/flourence might be a good idea to give them a 24 hour light dark cycle (12 hours of light 12 hours of dark) also 5% UVB tube wont be doing anything bad but UVB isn't essential

most species are a bit like paddle tails but they range from highly aquatic (like paddle tail) to semi aquatic (send about the same amount of time in the water as on land)

most newts with crocodile newts in there common name can be kept in pairs or groups.

It is likely you have seen the T verrucosus. I have only just got a pair today. They were £15 each, but then again adults are always more expensive. Lighting? Yeah, i think its similar to paddle tail newts. The care sheet morg suggested is very good and helped me.
