Default Himilayan crocodile newts

Hi, I've been reading about these T.verrucosus for some time, and am considering getting a pair of them. However, I have found conflicting advice regarding filters - are they really necessary? Or would daily/weekly water changes be adequate? And if filter is required, what type would you recommend?

Also, would a 45cm x 30cm x 30cm tank be big enough? (Or will I need to buy another tank

Thanks again, just after a bit of advice from keepers now!

If you use a filter I would advise using either an air powered filter or if you go for a power filter then diffuse the flow with a spray bar, in my experiance they tend to prefer still water. Even if you use a filter you will still need to do partial water changes on a regular basis.
I keep my adults in pairs in 60x30x30 tanks with 6-8" water depth but a 45x30x30 would get you started (assuming it's L x W x H).

Yes, 45cm is the length, and I don't mind getting a longer tank when they need it
And, thanks pollywog, I'll look into filters

Hey, what do you think about these filters? Would any of these be good?
