Smile how do you dust your tiny live foods?

as above, I am dusting the teeny hatchling and 1st sized crickets, but omg it takes ages to get the little things out of the tub and into the pot then into the tank. so there must be a better way to do it than I am doing already.

Soooo, how do you guys do it? what methods do you use to dust dart frog food?

I used to put cardboard loo roll centres or Smartie tubes into the cricket enclosure where they tend to gather then just shake a few into the dusting box

put the cricket tub in a bag then take the lid off. when a few have jumped out put the lid on and take it out the bag, put a little cricket dust in the bag with the escaped crickets and shake it about, tip the bag in your viv. sorted! (fish bags work best)

get a small bag (mine was from game) and put some dust in it, the put some crickets in it and shake it, then you have dusted crickets, you can pour everything out of the bag into a tub and pick the crickets out, or you can pour them straight into the enclosure if you dont mind dusting the floor

lol at the comment above...same method =P

cheers guys I shall give this bag method a go. it's so much easier dusting the larger live food.

I do the bag thing too! If your worried about getting dusting powder in the viv, you can tip the contents of the bag through a fine sieve first and then tip the crickets which are in the sieve in the viv... if that makes sense....

Or you can just not add too much dusting powder

I use a pint glass, the crickets can't climb the smooth upright sides and it's easier to tip them out of a glass without tipping out the excess dust than it is with a bag.

I just tried an idea that seems to work really well..

get a big bottle of tango (or whatever) and cut the bottom off the bottle at the bottom ribbed bit then flip the top half of the bottle upside down so the neck is in the base of the bottle.. then obv wash and dry them both and there it is.. then you can funnel the crix or flies into the base bit of the bottle then dust em (tiny bit of dust) then then when your ready to feed your frogs you can simply remove the top bit and tap the flies in being careful not to spill the dust in the tank obv but if you haven't used alot it shouldn't be an issue.. simple as.. lol

I use an empty cd spindle

Came up with it myself!

Unscrew the stick in the middle from the base and screw it back in the other way around so the stick is coming out the end. I unscrew the whole lid and put the crickets in screw the lid on without the stick dust them through the hole screw the stick in shake shake, shake shake, sh-shake it! Then unscrew the stick and the crickets jump out through the hole in the lid and into the white's den
