aluminium profiles to build a viv

Has anyone used aluminium profiles to build a viv? Can you seal the glass directly to the aluminium, or just use it as a frame?

I was looking at them but seems a bit expensive, I THINK it's used as a frame.

If it's the aluminium profiles as supplied by Dutch Rana, ENT etc. then it's just used to build racks / frames for the vivs to sit in. It's not a structural part of the viv.
