Default Frog tads

Too cut a long story short my friend was filling his pond in and there was still some tadpoles in it, we decided to take the ones that we could catch back to our house so they had a chance and weve put them in a tank and been feeding them blood worms . Now theyve morphed what is the best thing for them to feed on and can we realise them back into a different pond?

You can feed them on micro crix and fruit flies.

As for releasing them into another pond, you could risk the transfer of diseases, see the link below.

Chytrid Fungus

It's a shame your friend decided to fill his pond in really.

How far is the new release site from the first. if there common frogs (rana temporia) honestly they dont need releasing in a pond as long as they have fully metamorphsised, anyway damp like a wood or forest would do. and closer the better to the orgininal site but with in a mile or 2 should be fine.

that's really good, well done for raising them. I wish we could have a pond but we unfortunately rent and they won't let us dig a hole in their lawn! I haven't told them I've turned the bottom of the garden into a 'wildlife patch'....that's code for 'stopped mowing and pruning so I could track what moves in' .

We rent to and i dont think she would be to happy if we built a pond lol. A friend of mine is raising them as their now little frogs and feeding them fruit flies. Seems to be doing great. Is it not a bit cruel to release them back into the wild it there used to getting fed?

shouldn't be a prob, they still have wild instincts. in other words pop them close to the original place and they will find food! just make sure that same place is a safe one, and they should be fine, xx.

If you decide to keep them you will realize that they are very boring to keep and you will probably get very bored very fast, as they don't really do much and get startled easy.
Its best to keep them in a big tank depending on how many you have, common frogs are very good jumpers and will jump into the glass and could end up hurting themselves.
to prevent this just put loads of plants all the way around the tank.
they should be fine at room temperature.
and if you don't want to keep going to the shop buying crickets them simply go into your back garden and collect as many little bugs as you can, they eat almost every bug in your back garden like spiders, worms, slugs, etc etc.
If you decide you don't want them just let them go at the top of your garden.
or if you have to many and cant house/feed them all but still want to keep them, then just get rid of some.
