Default Fire salamander Q's

Just wondering if any one knows of a good petshop online that currently has fire slamanaders for sale, i perticularaly like salamandra gigliolii and salamandra bernadezi, i know dartfrog has both of these for sale, but with the postage ontop I could expect to pay a fair bit and I dont exactly have much money atm.

I will ring all of my lcoal pet shops and see what species of salamander they have in / how long itll take to order them in tomorrow,

so yea any websites tht sell fire salamanders apart from dartfrog at the moment?

Also my ank doesnt have a secure lid, I got a condensation trey, http://www.aquarist-classifieds.co.u...age/122381.jpg , to go over the tank, will sort out air holes and jam it in the tank to make it a bit tougher to take off, how good are fire salamanders at scaling their walls?

They are quite good at scaling walls especially if the sals are damp and the tank sides dry.
Make a decent lid, it will be better in the long term, and dont be in such a hurry to get your sals, especially when the weather could be hot, i dont ship mine out for a good month yet.

yes they are easy to come by, but dont pay silly money for them, as most are still wild caught that end up in pet shops, i have waited 5 years or more to get some of mine!!!

I hope thats for the pair and not each, and are they adult size or small?, lets be honest here, i wouldnt grow on a fire sal to an adult and take it to a pet shop to sell, too much time etc has gone into it, i think the cb sticker gets slapped on a lot of things, if its cb they will know where its come from, wont they??!!!

I have to agree with ben on the Wc/CB one of my main objects in this hobby is to obtain CB animals and to breed on to increase the number of cb animals

We do need the odd wild caught animal to help the viable gene pool of the sals, hence i tend not to buy a sal unless i know its locality its parents etc came from, bit anal i know, but thats what i do.
There are still some people who go across to France and grab 100+ sals and do the pet shop rounds selling their 'captive bred' terrestris.

Well down here terresris are £20 each-!!!
