A great crested newt which you should not be handling without a licence.

They are protected, meaning you cant disturb them in any way...but it is not like you knew, so just make sure it goes back where you found it...oh, and you should really wear gloves before you handle any amphibian.

thats a Triturus cristatus, great crested newt.

They are not dwa just very protected, you are forbiden to disturb them let alone pic them up and take them home.

They are Britains most protected species, building work has stopped when these have been found on sites and if they was in your garden pond it is ellegal to fill the pond in. My advice is put it back were you found it.

In future you should also be wearing laytex or plastic, powder free gloves whilst handling any amphibian.

just put it exactly where it was found......as for wearing gloves thats a lost cause i think noone adhears to it not even the guy on the land of lost volcano it just gona fall on deaf ears time and time again, people cant seem to grasp the simplest of things yet if it seems overly complicated or a challenge the its full effort to get it right yet ask someone to werar a pair of gloves and it just seems far to difficult for them :S. abit like me and manuscript lazyitis . doesnt seem worth the extra time but then spelling mistakes aint potentialy endangering animals.

dont get me started on fishing lol give up helping people with that.

I know mate it beats me how people can create theses dramatic high tech vivs yet they cant put a pair of gloves on and spray them before handling there phibs. Phibs dont want, need or require loads of handling as it is
