Default branches

Have cut down some conifer trees and a I was thinking of using the branches in the dart enclosures.

Before i go ahead with my idea I would like to know if these types of trees/branches are bad for frogs in any way??

I wouldnt use those. Have you got a willow tree or know anyone thats willing to let you cut some branches of theirs? When you peel off the bark its such a lovely and smooth wood

yeah don't use conifers. that family group of trees are known to be problematic. oak, willow, ash all fine.

You don't want any type of freshly cut branches as the wood is still full of sap etc.

Aside from that issue, all pines and cedars give off phenols in their sap and residually in the wood, these are volatile substances that are toxic or irritant and definitely not to be used with any herps.
