its debatable. weve got UVB but have the wrong bulb (Have a 5 but should have a 2) but having trouble finding a compact 2. on a rainforest floor there wont be alot of UV so people say you dont need it but then the other half argue that you should still have it so weve gone for a small sopt

just out of curiosity what would you leave the light on for? were leaving it 12 hours at the mo although its not on a timer at this point

the compacts are only 13 watt as well compared to 26 watt for a bigger spot or even more for strip

12-14 hours on in the summer. 10-12 in the winter. I use 26W compacts but tubes spread the rays out more evenly where as compacts are quite concentrated in one area.

Is he an albino? I've heard that you need to be careful with lighting and albino frogs, just thought I'd ask. otherwise I used a couple of 5% bulbs in mine when I had him.

Were looking for plants now to give a covering on the bottom so only wanted the light in one place in a clearer area so he can bask if he wishes so a spot is perfect. I use spots for my terrapins and strips for my beardie they all have there advantages. As the previous comment said a tube is much better for spread of light depends what your trying to achieve
