you could try posting a picture, to me this sounds more like the behavior of pachytriton and paramesotriton species.

fuzhong's, hongkong's, & chinensis often come in mixed batches too so it's quite possible you may even have a mix of Paramesotriton in the tank. Some good pictures may help with identifying them especially if you can show the ventral surface, and pics of the cloaca may help determine sex as males can sometimes be a problem together.
