amphibians make great display pets but your right handling should be kept to a minimum I think the most commonly kept are fire belly toads, these are small semi aquatic toads of the genus bombina the oriental fire belly toad is the easiest to get hold of and comes in several colour "morphs" from the bright grass green of the korean morph to the brown/green of the chinese morph and the yellowy brown of the golden russian morph, they are generally active and can be kept in groups and breed readily in capitvity, 1-3 will need something like a 24x12x12 with 1/2 to 2/3 of that being water the rest land room temps generally fine (20-24C) white's tree frog aka dumpy treefrogs, these are large hardy treefrogs with great personalities again they come in several colours from a jade green to an almost lime green to more brown coloured, these are large frogs getting up to the size of a mans fist and have a space requirement and appitite to match, a 18x18x24 tall exoterra is good for an adult and they can be kept in groups 27-30 C during the day, with a drop to 22-25 C at night horned frogs aka pacmans are low maintainance eating machines of the ceratophrys genus they seriously eat everything and can get pretty big but dont move around much generally digging a hole in the substrate and waiting for food to pass by untill they poop and then move out of there hole to make a new one, they do come in some stunning colours tho with albinos and normals coming in most avaiable species, tanks dont need to be huge most people keep these in a decent sized tub as they dont move much 24-28C others u might want to look into are american green or america grey treefrogs mossy frogs african clawed frogs leopard frogs but just look around there are plenty of species avaiable |

I've got a couple of White's Tree Frogs.
I did this video on how I care for them YouTube - White's Tree Frog Care I'm sure other people keep them differently, but that seems to work for me!

I have a ornate horned frog (pacman) keep it in a 18inchx18inchx18inch terranium with eco earth (3inch deep) as a substrate its planted with stuff like peace lillys and heated with a mat on a thernostat set at just over 80. We have a hide in there and lighting is a UVB5 coompact spot in a exo terra medium reflector. A large shallow water dish with gravel in the bottom and we mist regularly.
Very easy setup and very easy to maintain a complete clean out twice a week using water at 7.4PH (Mineral water). There pretty cool looking and very colourful but if you want something you can watch for hours get something else. There ease of care tho will make them a great starter. They hide alot and eat more than any other animal I have! weve had ours 3 weeks and its almost tripled in size. Am now looking at getting some vietnamese mossys tho there pretty cool looking frogs ![]()
