Found my red eye dead this morning. Thats 2 dead in the space of a week. Both of them I got from frogs galore and died within a month of having them.

On to my last one...

Please don't die on me chiquito... you're all i have left

He seems plump and healthy so I have hope...

Thanks

I checked it over before I buried it just now and it seemed to have a swolen sore on the top of its leg. Other than that it was brightly coloured and healthy looking

What could have caused the sore?

no couldnt have been, they had small locusts which don't bite or eat anything other than dark green leaves.

sorry to hear of your losses u have so much care to give yer animals, were the frogs young when u bought them was there no way the supplier could have taken them back when u noticed they were ill it should be common practice that breeders take animals back if they fall ill in a certain time or if they are ever needing rehomed.

Sorry to hear this Andaroo.

Always good policy to give every new addition decent quarantine time, but i remember you saying you were quarantining each frog so you shouldn't have any worries for your last frog. One thing i will say, and i truly mean this in the nicest possible way, you did seem to be handling these guys alot, taking photos of them on your bed etc, and quietly i was a little concerned, i wanted to say something to you but didn't want to make you look an arse publically - i know how easily stressed this family of frogs get, especially new additions and it is so so important that they are not tampered with for the first few months (if at all) in order to let their bodies immune system catch up with the stresses of transportation and settling into a new home etc. You can have the most beautifully planted canopy style enclosure in the world for them and they can be a very easy species to manage, yet the same enclosure but with handling sessions etc and they'll rapidly deteriorate - that's all it takes sadly. Remember that many frogs carry virus's etc that will only become apparent when subjected to stressful situations, yes even all our apparently healthy looking ones. BUT the same frog never put in these situations may never let illness show as it only gets a hold of the frog when his immune system is lowered (commonly brought on by STRESS).

I've said it before and i'll say it again - Callidryas are a wonderful species to maintain, but at work i REFUSE to recommend them to beginners or people with relatively little amphibian experience, purely because beginners especially LOVE handling frogs. A delicate if not impossible species to maintain if regularly handled, a fairly durable hardy species if left to their own devices in the correct setup with zero handling.

Good luck with your next frogs - don't let this put you off Andaroo.
