Default Fire bellied toads with no food?

Hey, just make it clear that usually I am great at having all of my food supplies up, however this week I have run into a problem.

I ran out of cricks on Tuesday, and set up a direct debit order from livefoodsbyost for a fortnightly delivery, expecting them on Wednesdy...no arrival, nor yesterday...I phoned this morning and was told the order was set to be posted on Mondays...my mistake, obviously. He is posting them today for tomorrow (hopefully) but I am stuck. I checked my local garden centre when I knew I was going to run out but theirs are too big..I feel guilty and stupid. Should I dig up some worms for them to eat today?

Wormfarm ftw!
I was thinking of starting one of those.
Especially if I get a horned frog.
Easy mistake to make!

I would be very careful digging up worms as there is a risk of pestercides. the worms should be washed and quarentined for at least 48 hours.

I think you are best to go and find another source or ask if anyone in your area can spare a few bugs. What size did your garden center have? you will be supprised the size of the food they can eat comfortably.

I have a spare tub of meal worms, (no idea if they're any good) but you're welcome to have them I'm not going to need them!

The worms are safe enough. They are from an area of my garden that we put the soil in to, with no one around that uses pestisides, no farms, away from roads ad paths, fences and sheds.

The crickets were fully grown adults (large breeders). They were bigger than the frogs heads so I dont think they would have been suitable and as these toads can not regurgitate, thought better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the offer of mealworms. I am heading to edinburgh tomorrow so if the order does not arrive in the morning post I will be able to get some there for sure.

I have also ordered a tub of earth worms to go into my worm farm...not sure how many they would eat in a week, though? I have been cutting the worms in two and they seem to be enjoying the challenge of getting them in their mouths before the worm wraps around their head,

Thanks again for replies...by the way....anyone else having difficulty uploading pics onto their profile albums???
