Rana temporaria question.
Hi guys,
I'd like to pick your brains regarding Common frog (Rana temporaria) hibernation, or more specifically hibernation in captivity.
A colleague is currently formulating strategy for PhD experiments testing phenology of over-wintered individuals (among other things), and there is a general consensus in the literature that it is not possible to do in a 'captive' situation. This includes common garden enclosures.
So:
- Has anyone had any success with this? Details would be nice.
- What burrow depth would be common for this species?
I would greatly appreciate any help,
Kind regards,
Andy
