you can only use Evian or they'll die. That's what they get sprayed with in the jungle.

Tapwater that's been aged 24hrs or rainwater.

Bottled water is unregulated, it might contain traces of anything or have additives (some bottled water is actually processed after collection ) and no one is under any obligation to measure that or tell you the consumer.

A spot of reading on the subject

Thanx, the reason I asked is I was looking at the labels in the shop and the chlorine levels where not as low as I would have expected. Our water in glasgow in some of the best in the uk-from Loch Katrine
Ill be using that from now on lol.
Would filling a bottle and leaving the lid of for 24 hours be enough to let it air?

A bucket is best, the smaller the surface area the less effective it is. Ideally water being let to stand for 24hrs should also be agitated with an airstone, this speeds up any other de-gassing that might go on and speeds up the stabilisation of the pH. (e.g: in Jersey we have borehole water which comes up super saturated with CO2 meaning it comes out at pH 6, 36 hrs later if just left to stand normally it's 7.5!!!!)

what about using a brita filter jug instead of leaving tap water for 24 hours, will that do the trick?
