Default Fire Bellied Toads

Do fire bellied toads make good display pets?

Depending on what you mean by 'display pets', yes. They are very attractive in themselves, active both day and night, quite social, and not especially shy. Allowing for their habit of dragging water and/or soil EVERYWHERE, it's quite easy to make their viv aesthetically pleasing. They do need attention, like any animal, though.

i can give them the attention they need, but they would be in the front room so it would be nice to have something that is quite active and doesn't hide all the time

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't being patronising, just wasn't quite sure what you meant by 'display'. Yep, mine provide endless fun- the only thing nearly as entertaining are my clawed frogs. As I said, with a bit of research you can give them a really attractive setup, and if you have a small group, there is always something going on in the tank.

I'd say they can, don't need to be hard work setting up an attractive tank either, I used to have mine where the land area was just a few very mossy house bricks at one end of the tank with a big ivy planted behind to provide cover and the aquatic area had brightly coloured blue/yellow pepples as the substrate, it looked pretty good and the frogs were certainly happy with it, I had 3 males and if gay frog porn is your thing you could have spent hours and hours watching them...
