Default The auratus have landed

Well, after waiting patiently for over three months for my tank (the plants, the springtails and woodlice) to establish and for the funds to become available and finally (after a hair-raising journey through the icy lanes) I have managed to get hold of a stunning pair of green and black Dendrobates auratus. A huge thank you to Dartfrog for these stunners (sorry, forgot to ask your name!) and I can recommend a visit - well worth the drive! - could have spent a fortune!

Still here is the house (one frog just visible in the middle)

and a few close ups (same frog, the other disappeared up the back of the tank and didn't come out!)

So now I have them and a couple of weeks worth of food, can any one point me in the direction of a good fruit fly culture tutorial?

I'm over the moon with these little guys, absolutely stunning!

Cheers

Andy

Marc at Dartfrog - Everything for the Amphibian Keeper sells some good starter kits for breeding fruit flies with everything you need and instructions for about £15.

dont waste that kinda money

get some "walks"

potatoes flakes
porriage oats
yeast
sugar
water

should cost at most 5 pounds for about 25 cultures

Mix together to get a slightly sloppy mix. add "walks"

place in warm place to get them blooming quickers

(next installment might discuss house mites)

WALKS = FLIGHTLESS FLIES

Great setup and lovely looking frog there mate. What size is your viv? How long did you leave it to settle in before adding the frogs?

The viv is a 45cm cube exo terra (this is the complete build thread http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/habit...rog-dwarf.html if you look at the date of that thread you'll see it's been a few months set-up and running. The frogs went in a couple of days ago.

Cheers

Andy
