Default Moss help Please!

Hi all, just wondering if the moss that you find in your garden on rocks and in between slabs is okay for a vivarium/terrarium, if so what would be the best way to help it grow.Thanks.

It will probably die as it needs a dormant period over winter. You can certainly try though but it needs to be cleaned, a 10% bleach solution.

Used to use it in both Fire Sal and FBT vivs... dunno about trying it in a tropical viv though

It'll peg it quite quickly in a warm terrarium, I'm afraid. Some of the online companies (Dartfrog?) can supply tropical mosses, or, in a wet terrarium, Java moss can do quite well- it does very well in my FBT viv. I'm told that the 'powdered' moss sold by bonzai companies can work- you mix it with water into a paste and paint it on where you want the moss to grow- but I've never used it.

Sorry, probably eventually yes- but if you've got a regular supply you could just replace it when it starts to go brown. Whats in the viv?

Not overly sure yet just doing some research but probably fire bellied toads or pygmy chams

Can't advise on the chams at all- although I think I've seen them kept on leaf litter? As I said, the land area in my FBT tank is well-covered in Java moss- but it's basically a pebble/driftwood/gravel bank in water. And the toads do their part by dragging water everywhere!

If you spread it out in the wetest areas- preferably on rock/pebbles, it takes quite quickly- mine is growing up the driftwood now.
