Exclamation bad pet shops.

today i visited a pet shop in south east london. i dont like this pet shop very much because of a previous visit where one of the staff members tried thier VERY best to make me look stupid when i asked them about amphibians but the man was in fact just clutching at straws and looked a fool.

anyway - back to today - i went in, got some food for my geckos and frogs and aqua safe for the water for my frogs. when i told the woman that its for my frogs she told me 'Oh we dont bother with that. its just a waste of money.' i still bought it and she looks baffled and said 'seriously? you might aswell just not bother.'

bad times for thier amphibs.

Ugh there's so many bad pet shops that seem to not know or care about the animals in their care.

I don't use aqua safe for my frogs either, I leave buckets of water to sit for a few days kept them like this for years now and not had any probs.

I use bottled waterrrrrr. I don't trust that you put stuff in bad water and it makes it safe....

ah i know people can use bottled water and rain water or leave water to sit. the shop said it like they just used tap water.

i use aqua safe for a few reasons. 1 im a last minute merchant so being organised enough to leave water to stand for a few days is beyond me!

secondly as im a student and therefore nocturnal combined with the fact im a last minute merchant makes buying bottled water a bit of an issue haha

bit of a mess really

Also i wont name and shame either. think its bad form.

I used to use the bottled water lonnnnng time ago, but didn't like not knowing what was in it, not that tap water is much better lol.

did the pet shop not say whether they let it sit?? if they aren't letting it sit and using it straight from the tap then yes that isn't in the amphibians (or any other animal for that point) best interest, I would agree with you on that point.

also each to their own on their methods of giving 'safe' water. we all do things differently, doesn't really make one way better than another
