Default Eastern Newts want a new friend in the tank

Amphibians arent my strong point and nor are technical terms so bare with me please :P

My brother has 2 eastern spotted newts in a square tank approximatley 2ft either way, half land and half water and he is looking for something to keep in there with them that is preferably not going to eat them and doesn't have any particularly strict heating requirements. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks! and Merry Xmas!

I would say if the tank was secure enough, and there was enough hight to put some climbing branches in, the safest bet would be american green tree frogs, i once had two in with a red spot and they had no interest in each other. you might get away with some white cloud mountain minnows in the water. wouldnt suggest any other types of newt though.
