Default Budgett's water/land ratio?

Care sheets are confusing. I thought they needed mainly aquatic with a small land area but other care sheets are saying the other way round. Which is it?

I've decided against FBT, I love Budgetts too much.

I've never kept Budgetts, but based on my experience with horned frogs and African bullfrogs, I'd tend to go for a land-based viv with a generous water bowl- apart from anything else, this arrangement is easier to keep clean, since they tend to defecate in the water.

see I would go the otherway and go more aquatic as from what I've read budgets spend alot of time in the water (except during aestivation).....

sorry that was really unhelpful

why not ask andrew (pollywog) he breeds them so should have a good idea of whats best

Watching a budgetts frog swim is one of the funniest things you will ever experience in life. I get the impression they are more aquatic than pacman/bullfrogs though. Pacmans seem to like resting in a few inches of water whereas Budgetts can actually swim.

Ok, checked out some online care sheets- which describe them as SEMI-aquatic, and pretty much all recommend a 50/50 land/water ratio.

Ours are kept fully aquatic for the most part of the year, they have a graduated water depth from 1" to 12" then when they show signs of being ready to aestivate they get moved to tanks filled with cocohumus for a few months with just a shallow bowl of water.
