Default fire bellied toads.

i already have 4 fire belied toads wich are very dark almost brown and today i got 2 new ones wich are a ovely light green colour, is there and reason for this? thanks fraser

sounds like you have 2 bombina bombina (european fire belly) and two bombina orientalis (oriental fire belly).

they could be the russian form or just very dark greens check their belliesif they all look the same then theyre all the same species or they could even be hybrids

Some orientalis come in a 'bronze' phase- I have one, with three green. I don't think they are seen on the market as often, but there's nothing 'strange' about them.

ok so there all fine then, the lady in the shop said they go a bright green if they are warm and go brown if they get cold, which doesn't make sence seeing as the tank i have them in is very warm and humid

No, some treefrogs do, but not FBTs. They do get a little dull-looking just before they shed, but don't really change colour.

ok thanks, i have had a look round and come to the conclution that they are indeed diffrent breeds of fire bellied toads

It's simply natural variation. I posted a small amount previously about varieties of Bombina, I'll go find it.......

Yeah, my bronze one is slightly brighter (at least after a shed), but looks very similar. Check out Polywog's thread, it makes it all pretty clear.
