Default Newts?

Hey, I was going to be getting some frogs, but after a talk with a friend in the pet shop today, I'm swaying to the side of newts.
The whole point of me getting one of these is after they get in my fish tank for the goldies, I've got a spare 10 gallon tank, with a built in (rather crappy) filter and light. And the only tropical fish we could really put in it is live bearers and my friend said they often die of stress. And I wouldn't know what to do with the offspring.
So newt advice please? I do like the look of axolotl. Was thinking one albino one brown?

Default grrovy

the axolotl is a lush newt, i have firebellied newts and theyre awesome pets to keep, basicly all you need to know is clean them out every week- 2 weeks, feed them on daphnia or frozen bloodworm, can get them anywhere, axolotls are water based so they are all good with just a tank full of water! hope u have fun x

Default blah here i go again

well to be podantic their actually salamanders but i see them as same thing, just clean them every week, put in gravel, they can grow quite large and territorial whilst metamorphisis, and some kind of filtration system helps, dont use tap water, if you do let it stand over night for the chlorine to disipate, hope helped x

If you like the idea of axolotl have a look at these sites :-

But don't use gravel....it will eventually kill them
