so you get the picture now what advice everyone on here gives you, i do hope you let it go. And just to let you know there doesnt have to be a pond near where you found it toads travel miles when they leave there breeding ponds and will travel all the way back to that same pond year after year to breed, so just put it back on the grass verge next to the road where you found it and it will carry on its jouney. and dont worry it knows where its going

they some how know where they are going and normally go back to where they were spawned and they will go back to the same place each year

i have a pond in my garden and somehow frogs find it each year and breed and was so happy to find a newt once but would never move it.....its cruel....you cant keep it in a tank it will die end of!!!

To the original poster. If you let the toad go (god i feel like the SAS trying to release a hostage), and you're really serious about keeping a 'pet' toad, i will let you have a CAPTIVE BRED toad i've bred totally free of charge* on the condition you release the toad you've found back into the wild. The CB toad will know no better to captivity unlike a wild animal that has spent many a happy year in it's natural environment. I can't say fairer than that.

*But i'd want proof you've done research on the correct husbandry first and that you have the correct set up to maintain it properly though .

Haha, i do like a dry sense of humour. When you said tree toads i thought you were referring to Pedostibes hosii, but i'm guessing you mean the Waxy monkey sauvagii's (already keep these mate - absoluely brilliant animals, a joy to keep as they say). I keep LOT'S of amphibians (and just a few reptiles nowadays), bit too numerous to list them all but i have enough to keep me busy. Yes, i've used Strictly Reptiles, Keith has always dealt me decent animals through either Reptiles Plus or dare i say it Southern Aquatics (i didn't stay there long trust me). He's had a few amphibians from me via another wholesaler i mainly deal with, and this year should have quite a few more from me mate!. PM what you keep Jay, Al

Sorry to take this off topic folks
