They're gorgeous. Though their tanks look way too small...

Betas can live in smaller bowls, but their bowls are a half gallon each, any bigger and they get depressed and start to just hang out at the bottom, you have to remember where they live naturally, so for them that's actually a big space. I have one beta who loves being in a bit 10 gallon tank but hates being in a one gallon one. It depends on there personality. Ive been breeding them for years and never have had a problem with their bowl sizes/

I wouldnt go smaller than 2.5 gallons. None are depressed in a 0.5 gallon tank. Also how are you heating and filtering thier tanks?

Water changes every week, never lost a betta that was not younger than 3 years that way, and my room is hot enough, due to bearded dragon heathing, and when i put them in bigger tanks they stop eating and don't do anything, they are born in smaller conditions than that in the wild, and Ive never had problems before, all my bettas are healthy and happy.

they are some lovely bettas.

Mine is in a 3UK G and isnt depressed or tail biting. Making good bubbles nets every other morning. Keeping in anything smaller then a 2UK G I would look at at cruel. You need to do more then a weekly change. It builds up. You need to do at least 2 changes a day without a filter. Sorry to sound like Im picking on you - As Im not. Just want whats best for the fish

Sorry but whether you have been breeding them for years, you obviously do not really know anything about their natural environment. Bettas come from Paddy fields, slow moving streams and canals. The paddy fields have 100's of thousands of gallons of water, so dont even consider mentioning puddles cus thats just something people use as an excuse.
I have at present, around 200 bettas and apart from the babies are all in a minimum of 2 UK gallons. Agreed that some prefer larger and some smaller, but deserve bigger than half a US gallon, which equates 0.4 uk gallons. Those bettas cant even swim in those "vases"
Sorry, but this may be the Norm in the USA, but its not in the UK where it is considered cruel!
