Heya guys, went with perlite in the end, and used a 1:0.8 ratio (weight).
The scales methods works wonderfully, only difference was that i multiplied the weight (in perlite having tared the tubs' weight) by 1.8 and slowly sprayed water in till i achieved the figure given, exactly the same thing essentially, just requires one less press of the tare button, hehe.
(For anyone that is confused reading that part, example: 100 grams of perlite, multiply 100 by 1.8 gives 180, add water till scales read 180grams, note though that this is cumulative from the original 100 grams reading)
Got them cooking away nicely, all being well, they'll be the first hatched reptiles i've ever bred, excitement overload i tell ya!
Cheers very much everyone for the advice.

Im using perlite at the min with the 1 x 0.8 ratio with no holes in container. Slight condensation on the lid but eggs are dented still and im trying to plump them up a bit! Perlite feels dry but i imagine that is the norm coz perlite holds moisture on inside.

I have added a few more drops of water so any more advice that may help anyone?

I have condensation on the lid too, but no denting of the eggs. Having said this my eggs have only been in incubation since friday last, and only in a non ventilated tub since yesterday 4pm.

fans are not necesary but if you do decide to use a fan then i would only use it at a very low speed to circulate the air inside the incubator as it will help to keep the whole incubator at the same temp.
